Brief Bio
Dimitris Mitrakos is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His research interests include internet computing, multimedia communications, sensor and digital telemetry networks and distributed control and teleoperations systems. Dimitris has a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MSc in Communications Engineering from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, a DIC in Signal Processing and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of London Imperial College of Science and Technology. In the recent past, he has been Vice-Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Department and Director of the Electronics and Computer Section of the Electrical Engineering Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Today he is member of the Managing Board and Director of Postgraduate Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program in “Language and Communications Sciences”. Since early 90s Dimitris has been member of Workprogramme Preparation Committees, Proposal Technical Evaluation Committees, Evaluation Process Assessment Committees and Project Technical Review Committees for the European Commission Advanced Informatics in Medicine, Telematics for Education, Trans-European Networks, COPERNICUS, ERDF Article 10, MEDIA Plus and Information Society Technologies Programs. He has also been member of the Greek Steering Committee for the European Commission Inter-Regional Information Society Initiative.

Brief Bio
Currently he is a professor at Kettering University, Flint, Michigan, USA and professor and chair at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria. He publish 4 books, more than 200 chapters in monographs, journal and conference peer?reviewed papers, more than 200 conference papers and seminars, and have more than 1450 citations, h-index 18, i-10 index 32, and impact factor 74.58. His research interests are in the field of multimedia systems, database systems, multimedia semantics, open access, big data, and data mining. Serving also on many database and multimedia conference program committees, he is currently Editor-in-Chief for two International Journals: Journal of Computational Information Systems (http://www.jofcis.com/), Serdica Journal of Computing (http://serdica-comp.math.bas.bg/) and member of the Editorial Board of the Data Science Journal. He is the Bulgarian representative in OpenAIRE from the beginning until now. He is teaching information retrieval and data mining in the last 10 years.
